Our Story

Tess & James, established in 2014, has been growing slowly into what it is today -- artisanal style, all natural products, bath and cosmetic goodies, dry goods and sundries --all made in small batches from our home studio in the heart of the Hudson River Valley. At our core remains a simple model: to create products that make us feel good, to keep production and sourcing as local as possible, to keep our ingredients natural and simple. We maintain the integrity of our products by hand making, hand pouring and hand packaging each and every one. 

Over the past year, we have been evaluating our commitment to sustainability. We have reimagined our products to prioritize the use of paper labels, kraft boxes (some with post-consumer recycled material), glass and metal. We have phased out most of our rigid plastics and single-use plastic packaging.  We will continue shipping with repurposed bubble wrap, corn based biodegradable peanuts, and repurposed boxes (collected as recyclables from shops in our village) and paper packing tape.

We make these choices because every little bit helps.
